“Ignite”
Welcome to “Ignite” Student Ministries at Orcutt Baptist Church. Ignite ministers to students in grades 6-12 from all over the Peninsula. Ignite leaders meet students where they are in their spiritual walk and commit to walking along beside them. As they grow, our main objective is to partner with parents to nurture, disciple, and equip youth to be life-long followers of Christ. Ignite offers a large vibrant student lounge for the youth to call their own. The student lounge is a great place to hang out with friends in a safe, supervised Christian environment.
Below is a schedule of ways for youth to become involved, connect with each other, and deepen their relationship with Christ:
1)Weekly Studies – Sunday school is from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
AWANA (Middle School Students 6-8 grades) is on Sunday evenings from 6:00 – 7:30.
AWANA is a Bible-centered program that reaches children and youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ and trains them to serve Him. The name AWANA is an acrostic for the phrase “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV):”Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” Club meetings consist primarily of Bible memory work, an exciting game time, singing and a Bible message. Weekly awards can be earned through handbook achievements and game time. Please print and complete the online Registration Form, and turn it in with the $25 registration fee to the Church Office. Our High School students are asked to serve in the AWANA ministry as leaders in training.
Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM in the student lounge both our Middle School and High School studies focus on relevant issues facing our youth on a daily basis. Ignite offers a caring, non-judgmental and supportive environment where youth share concerns about topics such as temptation, peer pressure, and sex and are given biblical insights to help deal with these issues.
2) Mission Projects – Peninsula Rescue Mission (serving breakfast), Port (feeding the homeless), Work Camp (help build homes for the less fortunate), and other mission opportunities are our outreach projects.
3) Fellowship activities - We try to have two activities a month such as Busch Gardens, weekend retreats, Water County, Youth Net, summer camps, youth lock-In, ice skating and much more.
