Missions
Since Orcutt Baptist began in 1892, our viewpoint
has always been Missions. Whether we are being instrumental in starting
new churches, raising money for mission trips or giving to Mission
offerings like Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong and Global Missions, we are
truly a church with a mission.
We support local missions:
Our youth group goes to
Peninsula Rescue Mission on the first Saturday of each month to prepare
breakfast for the men and hold a morning worship service. Once a month
they go to Menchville House to spend quality time with the children and
allow the children’s mothers an hour of free time.
Our
children
participate in mission activities that include taking snacks to William
& Mary students during exam week and collecting toiletry items for the
homeless and then presenting them the gift bags one night when our
church is providing dinner.
Our
adults participate
in filling shoe boxes for Franklin Graham’s Christmas child, feeding
dinner and breakfast monthly to the homeless during the five winter
months, and sharing meals and activities with the firemen at the station
close to our church. We plan annual mission trips within our state and
have previously gone to Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi. To involve
our neighbors, we invite the local residents to our annual community
festival in which we get to know them and let them know what our
congregation is doing to help share the Gospel.
