Where is Orcutt?

Orcutt Baptist is in Newport News, Virginia, near the intersection of Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue, and easily accessed from the interstate or locally.

From I-64 E or W, take exit 256-A Oyster Point Road West. Pass through two traffic lights, one at Canon Blvd, and the other at Village Green Pkwy. Take the next right, Palmer Lane, beside the fire station. Palmer Lane intersects with Baxter Lane after about a hundred feet, and the church is on the left.

Looking for Baxter Lane on the web or in a map book? Look for Oyster Point Lane instead. The street name was changed in 2000 but many publications have not updated yet.

What do I do when I get there?

Parking for the worship center is on the far left side and rear of the church. For further guidance, call the Church Office at 757.249.1280.

Sunday morning visitors, please stop at the Welcome Center for internal directions and help getting your children to the Preschool area or finding the worship center.
Visitor parking for Sundays is at the Orcutt Baptist School entrance in the front.

A visitor's card is included in each pew rack for a record of your visit. Let that be your offering as you worship with the Orcutt family.

How do I become a member?

Membership may be requested in the following ways:

  1. Profession of Faith. Persons may be received as candidates for membership upon their public profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at a worship service and subsequent baptism by immersion (Matt. 10:32).
  2. Letter. A member of another Baptist church of like faith will be received as a candidate for membership by receiving a letter of transfer.
  3. Statement of Faith. Anyone who has been a member of a Baptist church or a church whose doctrine and form of baptism are like our own, and has no regular letter of transfer, can be received as a candidate for membership into our fellowship.

All candidates must complete a period of instruction (a new member's class) to become acquainted with their responsibilities and privileges before becoming a church member.
